View Permission Roles
The Permission Roles screen allows you to add, edit, and delete Permission Roles. These roles are assigned to system users and will enable or disable access to parts of the system for that user. This screen is accessible from the User Management drop-down on the side menu bar. From this view, you can:
- Add a new Permission Role
- Edit a Permission Role
- Delete a Permission Role
- Sort the grid by clicking on the grid headers
Add a Permission Role
Click “Add New Permission Role” from the Permission Role screen to add a Permission Role. Enter the name of the new Permission Role (for example, Inspector or Manager) and enter a description of the role.
Functional Areas
In Functional Areas, select the permission for that area as either View, Add, Edit, or Delete. In the example below, we are setting up a Permission Role for a Manager who oversees all Inspectors. The Manager can view, add, edit, and delete all system areas except “Permission Role” and “User Management.” When a user who is assigned as a manager logs into the system, these items will not be available to him or her from the side menu bar.
Tip: If you would like to give permissions to View, Add, Edit, and Delete, click the Delete category, and the others will automatically populate with checkmarks
Data Filters
When adding or editing the Permission Role screen, additional settings are available when you check “This permission role requires data filters.” These filters allow you to be even more specific with your permissions. In the case of the Manager role in the screenshot below, we could assign the permissions by Client, Location or Asset if desired.
When you are finished, click “Save” to add the role to the system.
Edit a Permission Role
To edit a Permission Role, click “Edit” on the Permission Role or click the Permission Role name on the Permission Roles screen. Edit the desired information and click “Save” to update the Permission Role in the system or “Cancel” to exit without saving.
